US Central Command Twitter Account Hacked By ISIS


The US Central Command’s official Twitter account (@CENTCOM) was on Monday, January 12, 2015 hacked by individuals claiming to the the Islamic State (IS) terror group.
A tweet from the hacked account read: “ISIS is already here, we are in your PCs, in each military base. With Allah’s permission we are in CENTCOM now.”
The account also tweeted images of spreadsheets with contained the home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses of a number of current and former army generals.
Another tweet read: “AMERICAN SOLDIERS, WE ARE COMING WATCH YOUR BACK.”
The images posted by the hackers were taken of the twitter feed, just before the account was suspended said Monday, January 12, 2015
White House Press Secretary, Josh Earnest has downplayed the hacking. He said: “There is a pretty significant difference between what is a large data breach and the hacking of a Twitter account. We’re still examining and investigating the extent of this incident. But I don’t have any information beyond that.”
