No fewer than eleven persons have been reported dead with several others injured at Uchi-Mbakor in the Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State as a result of an auto crash involving two commercial vehicles in the morning of Monday, January 5, 2015.
The head-on-collision involved a Toyota Hiace, which reportedly belonged to Ishwa and Sons Motors, and another commercial Volkswagen Sharon.
According to Reports, the Hiace somersaulted into the bush and immediately went up in flames burning about three passengers beyond recognition while the Volkswagen bus was mangled.
Passersby helped to pull out the corpses of the victims which was subsequently taken to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Makurdi, and other health faculties in the area.
The Public Enlightenment Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Benue State Command, Mr. Samson Audu, who confirmed the accident said that the details were still sketchy.
“Our men (FRSC) are going round the hospitals and health facilities, where the victims were taken to, to collate the casualty figures,” said Audu.
