According to Uganda News Vision, the matter, only came to light recently when Osupa sought the intervention of the Child and Family Protection Unit at Ngora Central Police Station.
He said, “I feel bad losing my wife to a blind man after producing six children with her during our 16-year-old marriage.”
The septuagenarian disclosed that his love for his estranged wife still waxed strong adding that it was not too good of an idea for the children to grow up without the love of their both parents.

Things took a different turn however when Opio appeared before the Ngora Central Police Station in the company his ‘new catch’ and offered to refund the bride price Osupa paid on her so he could get married to his ‘new catch’ who already bore him a child three years ago.
“I will not prevent Atuko from visiting the children she produced with Osupa if I marry her. I will also offer them support where necessary,”said the blind Opio.
Reacting on the matter, the head of the Child and Family Protection Unit in Soroti, Michael Erimu, said, “Atuko’s heart is with Opio who has also declared his readiness to meet the cultural requirements in marrying her. Therefore, the clan should be able to solve this matter without hurting any party.”
Atuko also declared her love publicly for Opio in the presence of her dumfounded relatives and friends during a meeting with claims that her former husband was aged and could not properly meet up her yearnings as a woman.
“Even if Opio is blind, my heart is with him because he is able to meet all my needs as a woman; unlike Osupa my former husband.”
At the end of it all, Opio refunded Osupa’s paid a fresh bride price for Atuko and presented some cows and goats as demanded as demanded by culture.
