How Edwin Clark’s son was kidnapped - Family •Suspect arrested

The Delta State Police Command has swung into action to rescue Mr Ebikeme Clark the kidnapped son of Elder states man, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, who was abducted at his hometown, Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area of the state.

Mr Clark was allegedly abducted on Wednesday evening when he was said to have visited the EK Clark Foundation at the Edwin Clark University of Technology’s site at Kiagbodo, the country home of E.K Clark.
According to a sibling of Mr Clark, the victim was at the site to pay the wages of workers when he was abducted by gunmen who did not touch his money, but whisked him away in a car to Waterside.
Delta Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestine Kalu, however, reiterated that efforts were on to rescue the victim from the hands of his abductors.
“The state police command is doing everything humanly possible to rescue the victim whose whereabouts were still unknown till date. However, with God on our side, we hope to succeed in this mission,” the police spokesperson pledged.
DSP Kalu urged the family of the victim, especially Senator Clark not to worry as the long arm of the law will soon catch up with the hoodlums.
Mr Clark, a national assembly hopeful in 2015, had contested in 2011 election to represent Burutu Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives.
Meanwhile, the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has condemned the abduction of Ebi Clark, son of the Ijaw National Leader, Chief Edwin Clark.
A  statement signed by the IYC spokesman, Mr Eric Omare and made available to journalists in Yenagoa, read in part: “Information at the IYC disposal is that the son of the Ijaw National Leader Ebi Clark was taken to the kidnappers hideout through the Kiagbodo River which connects with the Ramos and Forcados rivers in Delta and Bayelsa states.Therefore, all IYC clan officials in the riverine areas of Ingbelebiri ,Oporomor and Seimbiri  clans of Bayelsa and Delta states have been directed to fish out the kidnappers. “
The Ijaw Youth Council said it would use all resources in its disposal to fight  kidnapping and other forms of criminality in Ijawland.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Delta State police command, Celestina Kalu (DSP), has confirmed the arrest of a suspect and the recovery of a car in connection with the case.
“An arrest has been made and a car recovered so they are transferring it to the state anti-kidnap unit for investigation. The suspect was arrested near the waterside and his vehicle was recovered,” she said.
She also said police was yet to be informed of any contact with the family by the kidnappers or a demand for ransom.
