This has brought the tally to four gold medals, one silver and one bronze medals respectively at the Paralympic championship.

Technical Director, Nigeria Para-powerlifting Federation (NPPF), Samuel Ekeoma confirmed that Abdulazeez Ibrahim was the athlete that clinched the fourth gold for Nigeria in the male category.

Ekeoma said that Ibrahim lifted 235kg in the male 97kg weight category to win the gold, adding that in the women's category, Loveline Obiji won the silver with a lift of 142.5kg.

Yakubu Adesokan won the first gold medal for Nigeria after breaking his own world record of 178kg in 46kg.

Adesokan had earlier set the record at the 2012 London Olympic Games by lifting 181kg in the same weight category.

Esther Oyema won the second gold, setting a new world record in the 55kg category which has now cancelled the record set in 2013 Asian Open Championships in Malaysia with a lift of 125kg.

The third gold was won by Ijeoma Ihurobiem in the female 73kg weight category, while Anthony Ulonnam won the bronze in the male 54kg.

The director expressed the hope that Team Nigeria would not relent in their effort to win more medals for the country before the end of the championships.

The competition will end on April 11.
