The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Chris Olakpe, said that killing and selling of minors in the state had become a source of concern to the command.
"The killing and selling of minors must be condemned by all reasonable human beings. The command has arrested a man that attempted to sell his baby at a cost of N350, 000.
"Detectives were tipped that somebody was willing to sell the baby and they waded in to bargain the price of the baby. The detectives arrested the man red-handed after collecting the agreed price of N350, 000 from them.
The commissioner disclosed that the command had also arrested another group of three persons in Jos, who killed a girl and removed some parts of her body for ritual purposes.
Olakpe also disclosed that a woman was arrested by the command's detectives while in custody of three children that were not her own.
"During police interrogation the woman confessed that the children were brought to her by some people now at large. The woman informed the police that she loves them but she did know their parents,’’ he said.
The commissioner recalled that the command had some time ago arrested a young man who used a pillow to kill his own child.
"The young man killed the child to make rituals to make money but the mother of the baby raised alarm and the accused was arrested. I call on all Plateau State people to stop this bad habit of killing innocent souls because nobody makes money with blood or spare parts of human being. I advise people to put more effort in hard work and intensify prayers to God to succeed in all their businesses,’’ Olakpe said.
The commissioner also appealed to members of the public to always give information that would assist the police to curb criminal activities in the state. He said that all information received from the public would be treated with utmost secrecy.
