2015: Jonathan’s Re-Election Campaign Office For South-South Inaugurated In Uyo

Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the South-south campaign office for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan was inaugurated on Monday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital by notable politicians in the region, on the platform of the Goodluck Support Group (GSG).

According to a former Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Nsima Ekere, who is also angling to become the next governor of the state, Jonathan deserves the support of all Nigerians to succeed.

He said: “We believe Mr. President must be given a chance by Nigerians to succeed in 2015. Any government no matter its nature, no matter where the leader is from or the language he speaks, if he does not have the support of the electorate first of all, the government will lack legitimacy and will not be focused”.

Ekere, who is a member of the Elders’ Council of the GSG, noted that most of the decay in public infrastructure did not just start under the present administration, however, concerted efforts were being made to address the rot and put the country back on track.

“The road infrastructure and decayed power didn’t become bad overnight. The railway that Mr. President is now putting on track didn’t get bad overnight. The problems that confront us as a nation and People didn’t just happen overnight. These are things that happened overtime.

“If you look at his programme, the Transformation Agenda, Mr. President is tackling the key areas where we have need as a country such as power.

“The good thing is that we are now on track and that is why we must support Mr. President so that he continues to lead this country well.

“If we distort what we have now, it is going to take a long time to begin to prepare another person to start a new plan”, he said.

On the level of insecurity, Ekere said that “You can agree that Nigeria and Europe are not on the same pedestal in term of technology. It will take time for us to get to the level of military and intelligence sophistications of the developed world.

“We must admit that given the challenges and circumstances of our country and the resources at our disposal, President Jonathan is doing his best in the area of fighting insurgency”, the ex-deputy governor said.
