World football governing body FIFA has given Barcelona Football club a 14-month ban from signing any player after they were found guilty of breaching transfer rules of signing international players under 18 years.
The implications is that Barcelona cannot buy or sell any players until at least the summer of 2015.
In addition,Barcelona was equally fined the sum of 450,000 Swiss Francs (£305,000).
Also fingered in the shady dealings was the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) who were equally sanctioned by FIFA for the same offence.
It comes on the heels of events that revealed Barcelona could have overstepped the boundaries in last summer's acquisition of Neymarfrom Santos, which led to the resignation of former club president,Sandro Rosell from his post.
With Barcelona particularly short of options in the goalkeepers department, now that Victor Valdes confirmed he is leaving in the summer, the club would be handicapped to draft in a replacement.
They were linked with Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, and last week agreed a deal to sign 17-year-old Croatia midfielder Alen Halilovic.
