Court Arraigns Driver For Burgling Home Of Employer In Lagos

NAN – A driver and two others, who allegedly broke into the house of their employer, Mrs Budo Osoagbaka, and stole items valued at N126,500, on Thursday appeared before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The driver, Chinonso Ochuba, 26; Nicodemus Ifediba, 27; and Paul Ifediba,23, all residents of Apapa area of Lagos, are facing charges of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.


The prosecutor, Cpl. Kingsley Jackson told the court that the accused committed the offences on Dec. 5 at Amuwo-Odofin area of Lagos.
Jackson said the accused broke into the complainant’s house to steal her television set, HP computer and DVD player.
He said that Ochuba, the complainant’s driver, conspired with the other two to break into Osoagbaka’s house to steal the items, all valued at N126,500.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 285,305 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
However, the accused, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Section 285 prescribes three years imprisonment for stealing.
The Magistrate, Mr Mukaila Fadeyi, granted N50,000 bail to each accused with one surety each in like sum, and adjourned the case till Jan.9,2015 for trial.
