ALERT! ISIS Agents Planning To Recruit Nigerians – NIC

The Federal Government, through the Natonal Information Centre, NIC, has announced to Nigerians that the Middle Eastern Islamist sect, the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, are scouting to recruit the nation’s youths as fighters.
The NIC has therefore urged the public to be at alert and shun any such recruitment.
This was made known by the Director General and Coordinator of the National Information Center, Mr. Mike Omeri. Who released the statement on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, following an intelligence reports.

According to Omeri, intelligence reports stated that the ISIS group have recruited three South Africans who are operating in the guise of humanitarian support groups for refugees and orphans.
He warned that Nigerian youths, especially the Muslims should not drop their guard as ISIS is scouting for fighters around the Islamic world and Africa, most especially Nigeria, following the repeated Islamist attack in the northern region of the country.
Omeri urged Nigerians to avoid being manipulated into joining the Islamist group, saying that was contrary to the true nature and spirit of peace loving Nigerians.
“Nigerians are known the world over to be selfless, hospitable and humanitarian. We believe in the brotherhood of all mankind and no one should be allowed to take advantage of these virtues or turn them into vices.
“Nigerians are, therefore, advised to report to security agencies without hesitation, any group or non-governmental agency, whose overt or covert activities are suspicious or have tendencies to jeopardise the innocence of our youth and the security of our people wherever they are in the world,” he stated.
He thereby urged Nigerians to trust and have confident in the government’s security efforts and show greater cooperation with security agencies so as to ensure a stern compliance with security tips, which shall continue to run on print and electronic media platforms.
