Rape After a sex-education class, a 13-year-old boy, who preferred practicals to theories raped his female classmate of the same age at their Welsh secondary school.
He reportedly took her to a secluded area in the school premises and questioned her on whether she would like to “try sex.”
The boy who admitted the offence appeared at the Dolgellau Youth Court in North Wales last week and during the hearing it was disclosed that the victim declined severally until the teenage boy forcefully raped her and told her, “you can go now”.
According to reports, he was put on a 12-month referral order and must spend two-and-a-half years on the sex offenders list.
It was learnt that education officials are working with police to review what lessons can be learned from the unruly act.
“As soon as this serious allegation was brought to our attention, the matter was immediately referred to North Wales Police for investigation.
“Now that the legal process has been concluded, we will be working with North Wales Police and other relevant partners to carry out a detailed review of the incident to identify whether there are any lessons to be learned,” said a Gwynedd Council spokesperson.
Also, a representative of the rape survivor charity Rape Crisis England and Wales, Katie Russell, said, “The fact this happened after a sex education class is something I am sure gives concern about the teaching of sex education in school.
“I would say it highlights the importance of teaching sex and relationships education in schools that focuses not just on the biology and mechanics of sex but about emotions and consent, respect and relationships.
